Autumn Term

Litter Picking

The children have been taking care of their outside area by using our litter pickers to collect rubbish. Well done, everyone!

Bulbs and Leaves

Jumping in the Autumn leaves has been lots of fun this month! The children also enjoy collecting the leaves, looking closely at them and cooking with them in our mud kitchen, making "leave salad" and "spaghetti leaves!"

We've planted winter bulbs that will hopefully grow in the new year, which the children are very excited about.
Making bridges and obstacle courses with our crates and wooden planks has been very popular. The children work as team to create very long constructions to travel across.

Pumpkins!

In Bumblebee and Ladybird class, the children were very excited to pick their pumpkin that they have been growing. We have been looking at the lifecycle of pumpkin, from a seed to a flower and then a pumpkin. The children took very good care of it while it was growing.

The children used their gross and fine motor skills to hollow out our homegrown pumpkin (and a few other ones of different shapes, colour and sizes!) They enjoyed scooping out the insides and collecting the seeds, which will plant again next spring.

We also got creative with the slices of pumpkin, making: "pumpkin pie" and "pumpkin soup". The children decorated them beautifully using leaves and flowers they collected around the garden.
